This comprehensive programme is designed for current and aspiring Designated or Deputy Safeguarding Leads, as well as Named Child Protection Officers, working in education or any setting with children. Whether you’re new to the role or seeking to refresh your expertise, this course ensures you’re equipped to lead safeguarding with confidence and clarity.
This training will support you in developing a clear understanding of your role, exploring the core responsibilities and expectations of a DSL, such as supporting staff, liaising with agencies, and leading on safeguarding and child protection. You will gain a thorough understanding of the most current safeguarding policies, statutory guidance, and best practices, ensuring you are fully equipped to navigate complex safeguarding cases. It will enable you to identify thresholds for action, make effective referrals and work with multi-agency partners with confidence. Finally, you’ll discover how to embed safeguarding into your organisation’s ethos, policy development, and everyday practice, helping to build a robust safeguarding culture that protects children and supports your time.
This course is designed for Designated or Deputy Safeguarding Leads in schools, academies, early years settings, health, and youth services, as well as Named and Designated Child Protection Officers. It is also suitable for professionals who have completed single or multi-agency safeguarding training. Participants can choose to attend either two half-day online modules (using a desktop or laptop) or a one-day in-person session.
