Comprehensive safeguarding training provides understanding of key principles like empowerment, prevention, proportionality, protection, partnership, and accountability, plus knowledge of abuse categories (physical, emotional, sexual, neglect) and signs such as injuries, withdrawal, or poor hygiene. It builds skills for effective responses, accurate record-keeping, information sharing, and reporting processes covering Online Safety, Prevent Duty, harmful practices, staff allegations, low-level concerns, domestic abuse, professional curiosity, child criminal/sexual exploitation. Training aligns with statutory guidance like "Working Together to Safeguard Children" (Children Acts 1989/2004) and national practice reviews for improved multi-agency practice.
Anyone working with children, directly or indirectly, school staff including Pupil Referral Units, Early Years staff, and college staff require safeguarding training.
Duration: This training can be delivered within two hours, or slightly longer to build in a break and more time for discussion of case studies and groupwork.
